“Everything becomes a little different as soon as it is spoken out loud”

— Hermann Hesse

“Watch carefully the magic that occurs when you give a person just enough comfort to be themselves”

— Atticus

“One day you knew what you had to do, and began”

— Mary Oliver, “The Journey”

“Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift”

— Mary Oliver

I believe that our thoughts, stories, and internal dialogues about ourselves, our pasts and our challenges start to change when we begin speaking them out loud to a therapist. Together we challenge them, look for the resilience in them, look for the fault in them, and look for the beauty in them. We begin to identify where they may have come from, takes ones with us that help us towards our goals and values, and ditch the ones that keep us from becoming our best selves.

I believe that change is a choice, and with the right support and space to discover who we are, we make choices more easily. I believe that challenges, setbacks, and grief can present itself as opportunities to learn about ourselves, our values, and reexamine how we want to live our lives.
